It was right before 1:15 AM, that emergency services in Cramahe Township were called to the HWY 401 near Big Apple Dr, in the westbound lanes for a fully engulfed Big rig.

Upon the arrival of emergency services, Cramahe Fire Department was met with tall flames and heavy black smoke. Fire Fighters did an amazing job at quickly knocking down the fire, and protecting the cargo that was parked just a few feet away.

The fire appears to have started in the engine bay, and worked its way to engulfing the whole truck. Luckily the driver was able to quickly separate the truck from its trailer before the fire spread.

HWY 401 Westbound lanes were closed for approximately one hour while crews worked to extinguish the fire, all lanes have since re-opened.

The Official cause of the fire has not yet been released. We are happy to report that there was no injuries involved with this incident.
