Cobourg Police Services changing up operations due to COVID-19

With the measures proposed by the Government of Ontario to counter increased community
transmission of COVID-19, the Cobourg Police Service will be closing the police station at 107 King Street West. This closure ensures that we can continue to protect the safety and wellbeing of police employees and everyone in our community. There has been no disruption in our services, but we are continually planning for contingencies that may impact staffing levels.

The Cobourg Police Station will be closed to members of the public beginning 12:01 AM on Saturday, December 26, 2020, to Saturday, January 23, 2021.

Community members continue to be encouraged to take advantage of the online services we make available through the Cobourg Police Service website.

The following services can be completed online by visiting cobourgpoliceservice.com:

Criminal Record Check Application
Freedom of Information Request
Motor Vehicle Collision Report Request
Online Reporting of non-emergency crime
Bike registration

An accessible phone for contacting police is still in place at the top of the accessibility ramp on the station building’s east side.

If you are in immediate danger or in an emergency, call 9-1-1.
For non-emergency assistance, or assistance with online services, please call (905) 372-6821.

The Cobourg Police Service continues to employ the following measures to protect staff and members of the public to minimize transmission of the virus:

• During the closure, members of the public should avoid attending the Cobourg Police Station
• When you call Police Dispatch, you will continue to undergo a non-invasice screening process
regarding COVID-19 health risks.
• We will continue to process some non-emergency calls over the phone instead of having an
officer attend. This is managed on a case-by-case basis by continued use of our tiered policing
model.
• You will continue to see members of the Cobourg Police Service wearing protective
equipment like masks, shields or gloves. This remains as a primary method of personal and
community protection against COVID-19 transmission.

The Cobourg Police Service would like to thank everyone for their patience and understanding. We would like to stress that there will be no disruption in day to day activities, and the Cobourg Police Service will continue to respond to calls and community safety concerns.
