TRAFFIC COMPLAINT LEADS TO ARREST OF TWO

Members of the Peterborough County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a traffic complaint regarding a possible impaired driver on Chemong Road at approximately 11:30pm on December 25, 2020. The vehicle was located and the driver was found to be under the influence of drugs. Officers seized fentanyl, crystal methamphetamine, cell phones, drug paraphernalia and approximately $850 in Canadian currency during the investigation. The driver and passenger are facing drug related charges. 

Dawn MACDONNELL (age 46) of Peterborough, Ontario was arrested and charged with:

·      Operation while impaired-drugs

·      Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking-opioid

Shanaqua LAWRENCE (age 28) of Peterborough, Ontario was arrested and charged with:

·      Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking-opioid

The accused are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on January 27, 2021.

The Peterborough County OPP reminds motorists to plan ahead when consuming drugs. Use a designated driver, cab, public transit, or stay overnight. Any amount of alcohol or drugs can impact your ability to make sound judgements.
