The Quinte West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged two Quinte West residents following a motor vehicle collision.
On January 16, 2021, at approximately 4:30 p.m., Quinte West OPP officers were dispatched to a collision involving a pick-up truck in the ditch on Hamilton Road, just north of Lester Road. Upon arrival, police located the driver and passenger of the vehicle walking away from the scene, as well as another person who falsely indicated they had been the driver. Two people were arrested.
Casandra WOOD, 31 years old of Quinte West was charged with:
- Obstruct peace officer – Sec. 129(a) of the Criminal Code; and
- Driving while under suspension – Sec. 53(1) of the Highway Traffic Act
John HARRISON, 64 years old of Quinte West was charged with:
- Obstruct peace officer – Sec 129(a) of the Criminal Code; and
- Permit unlicensed person to drive motor vehicle – Sec. 32(10) of the Highway Traffic Act.
Both accused were released with an Appearance Notice and are scheduled to attend the Ontario Court of Justice on February 25, 2021.
