DRIVER ARRESTED AFTER TAKING OUT A HYDRO POLE ON OLD WOOLER RD

At approximately 10:30 this evening, emergency services were called to in front of the address of 1415 Old Wooler Rd north of Brighton for a single vehicle collision. The driver of a Nissan SUV struck a hydro pole before parking the vehicle on a nearby front lawn.

Quinte West Paramedics were closest to the call, along with Northumberland OPP.

A female driver has been arrested on the suspicion of operating a motor vehicle while impaired. The driver was the lone occupants of the vehicle and has been transported to a local hospital to be treated for what appear to be minor injuries.

It is only after she is checked out that OPP will be able to confirm the driver’s sobriety. The driver was driving with a suspended license which we have learned was due to a prior driving while impaired charge.

Hydro one is currently on scene assessing damage. At least one hydro pole will require replacement. No hydro outages are reported in the area.

We will have more on this situation.
