Cobourg Police – Police presence at a Balls Lane address – no threat to public safety

On February 24, 2021, at 230 am, police were called to an address on Balls Lane regarding a medical complaint – suspected drug overdose.  Officers arrived on the scene along with Emergency Services, including Northumberland County Paramedics and Cobourg Fire Department.  Despite their best efforts, lifesaving measures proved unsuccessful.

Members of the Cobourg Police Service remain on scene investigating the circumstances of death with the assistance of the Office of the Chief Coroner. The Cobourg Police confirm that there is no risk to public safety.

The Good Samaritan Drug Overdose Act protects individuals who are worried about getting into trouble with the law because they may have drugs, are violating release or parole conditions. It can protect you from certain charges if you experience or witness an overdose and call 911 for help.
