PORT HOPE POLICE RESPOND TO A POSSIBLE WEAPONS CALL

In the early afternoon of March 16, 2021 Port Hope Police were dispatched to a call of a man walking possibly with a gun near Ganaraska Trail Public School. The call came in after students saw what looked like a man walking around with what appeared to be a gun in his hands. As a result a lock-down was immediately initiated by Port Hope Police Service at Ganaraska Trail Public School, Port Hope High School and Dr M S Hawkins Intermediate School.

Local company K9ine Security assisted in locating this suspect with the use of there new drone operations. From high in the sky they are able to utilize thermal imaging to locate people of interest and missing people in urban and rural settings.

Port Hope Police Inspector Katie Andrews told us that they were able to locate this person who did NOT have a weapon. A short time later lock downs were lifted and students were released from schools. No injuries were reported during this incident.
