Peterborough OPP – TRAFFIC STOP LEADS TO IMPAIRED DRIVING CHARGE

Members of the Peterborough County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stopped a vehicle for a Highway Traffic Act offence on Highway 7 at approximately 4:30pm yesterday afternoon. The driver was found to be under the influence of drugs and the vehicle was found to be mechanically unfit for the road. 

Jeffery WILTSHIRE (age 44) of Marmora and Lake, Ontario was arrested and charged with:

• Operation while impaired-drugs

The accused was also charged with six Highway Traffic Act offences in relation to the condition of the vehicle.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on May 13, 2021.

The Peterborough County OPP reminds motorists to plan ahead when consuming drugs. Use a designated driver, cab, public transit, or stay overnight. Any amount of alcohol or drugs can impact your ability to make sound judgements.
