Port Hope resident arrested for impaired operation

On April 23 in the early morning hours the Port Hope Police Service initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle seen driving aggressively and hitting the curb.

During normal conversation with the accused, police determined the man was impaired.

As a result of a subsequent investigation Spencer Smith, age 31 of Port Hope, Ontario was arrested. Smith was released later Friday morning on an undertaking to appear in court on May 26, 2021.

Smith was charged with operation while impaired – alcohol, failure or refusal to comply with a demand, and driving while under suspension.
