Several charged under the EMCPA for fishing along the Ganaraska

Port Hope Police say they have charged several people who were found fishing along the Ganaraska River in Port Hope.

Those who were charged had addresses in Woodbridge, Toronto, or Scarborough.

Fines under the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act will cost those found to be in offence a fine of $750.00 along with a $130.00 surcharge.

The Municipality of Port Hope closed access to the Ganaraska on April 9, 2021 and finished a two stage closure on April 23, 2021.

Although Port Hope Police will not arbitrarily be stopping people solely for the purpose of asking you where you are from, the Port Hope Hope Police will charge you if they find anyone in contravention of the stay-at-home order.
