Members of the Peterborough County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to a break and enter at a Trent Lakes residence at approximately 6:30pm yesterday evening.
At approximately 6:15pm the suspect entered the residence and was confronted by the homeowner. The suspect left the residence and fled the scene on a stolen riding lawnmower. Investigation revealed the suspect had also damaged the residence and violated their bail conditions. Officers were able to locate and arrest the suspect at a nearby residence.
The 22 year old suspect of no fixed address was arrested and charged with:
• Mischief under $5000
• Theft under $5000
• Break, enter a place-commit indictable offence
• Failure to comply with release order-other than attend court-four counts
The accused party’s identity will be withheld in effort to protect the victim’s identity.
The accused is scheduled to appear for a bail hearing in the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough later this morning.
