DRUG CHARGES LAID FOLLOWING TRAFFIC STOP IN QUINTE WEST

The Quinte West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged two people following a routine traffic stop in Trenton.

On May 13, 2021, at approximately 11:15 p.m., Quinte West OPP stopped a vehicle on Water Street for failing to stop for a stop sign. Officers learned that the driver of the vehicle had a suspended license. The driver was arrested, and following a search, a quantity of suspected cocaine, fentanyl, cash, and drug paraphernalia were seized. A passenger of the vehicle was also arrested.

Ryan LORD, 50 years old and Michelle HODGSON, 33 years old, both from Brighton were charged with the following offences:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – Cocaine;
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – Fentanyl; and
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000.

Additionally, LORD has been charged with disobeying a stop sign, driving while under suspension and fail to surrender insurance card.

Both accused were held for bail and were scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on May 14, 2021.
