GoFundMe campaign launched in support of Northumberland Paramedic fighting for her life after being diagnosed with COVID-19

A go fund me has been created in support of one of Northumberland Counties own first responders after contracting the COVID-19 virus.

On April 25 Joni Krampert, a long serving paramedic for Northumberland County attended the Northumberland Hills Hospital with symptoms related to COVID-19. She was immediately admitted to the hospitals ICU with extreme difficulty breathing.

24 hours later she tested positive for COVID-19 and was intubated and put on a ventilator (life support). On April 29 her condition improved and was stable enough to be transferred by Ornge land ambulance to Peterborough Regional Health Centre for long term supportive care.

On May 21 her condition quickly deteriorated prompting an immediate transfer to Toronto General Hospital for further specialized care. She has since been transferred to Mount Sinai Hispital where she continues to fight the virus we know as COVID-19.

Complications and further diagnosis such as “ARDS” (widespread inflammation in the lungs) and Sepsis (when the bodies immune response to an infection damages its own tissue – potentially life threatening) has left Joni with another mountain to climb.

Joni is still on life support receiving a high level of care. She remains in an induced coma, intubated and on life support.

Any and all donations are appreciated and can be made by clicking here. Funds will go to Joni’s recovery costs and related travel expenses.
