Quinte West OPP – CHARGES LAID AFTER REPORTED ASSAULT

The Quinte West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has laid several charges against an individual following a report of violence at a Trenton address.

On May 28, 2021, at approximately 9:00 a.m., Quinte West OPP responded to an address on Annwood Court after a witness reported a female had been assaulted and was badly injured. Officers located the injured person who was subsequently transported to hospital by paramedics with serious injuries. The accused was arrested a short time later after being located by officers on Water Street.

A 30 year old male from Belleville has been charged with the following offences:

  • Aggravated assault
  • Assault causing bodily harm – choke, suffocate or strangle
  • Forcible entry
  • Obstruct peace officer; and
  • Fail to comply with probation order – two counts

The accused was held in custody and was scheduled to appear for bail on May 28, 2021. The name of the accused has been withheld to protect the identity of the victim.
