Quinte West OPP arrest Brampton man for impaired operation after being found asleep at the wheel

On Sunday June 6, 2021, shortly after 8:00 p.m., officers from the Quinte West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a call for service on Loyalist Parkway in the City of Quinte West. Witnesses described that the driver of a motor vehicle was passed out behind the wheel on the roadway. Police attended the location and the investigation led to the arrest of the driver. The driver was then transported to Belleville Police Service for further testing.

Dhirwesh KAUSHIK, 38 years old, of Brampton has been charged with Operation while Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration Over 80 mg.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on June 24, 2021. The accused’s driver’s licence was also suspended for 90 days.

Quinte West OPP is reminding everyone to drive sober and plan ahead for a sober ride. If you suspect a driver is impaired, call 9-1-1 immediately.
