Cobourg Police – Warrant arrest leads to drug and weapon charges

A man was charged with drug and weapon offences after being arrested by police on an outstanding warrant.

On the evening of Monday, June 7, 2021, police were on general patrol and observed a man sought by the Cobourg Police Service on an outstanding warrant.

As a result of police investigation, Micheal BERRYMAN, a 26-year-old from the Town of Cobourg, was arrested. During the search incident to arrest, police located a switchblade knife and a small quantity of suspected crystal methamphetamine.

BERRYMAN was charged with the following offences:

  1. Possession of a Prohibited Device or Ammunition– contrary to section 92(2) of the Criminal Code of Canada
  2. Possession of a Schedule I Substance – to wit Crystal Methamphetamine – contrary to section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act
  3. Fail to Comply with Undertaking – contrary to section 145(4)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada x3
  4. Fail to Comply with Probation – contrary to section 733.1(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada x3

BERRYMAN was held for bail.
