Lightning strike ignites tree fire in Cramahe Township

Shortly before 8:40pm, Cramahe firefighters were called to an address on Telephone Rd just east of CR-25 for a report of trees on fire following a lightning strike.

Upon arrival crews found approximately 5 trees on fire adjacent to a field on Telephone Rd. Suppression agent was applies almost immediately.

A neighbouring home owner saw the lightning strike and began to see smoke when she called 9-1-1.

Many other lightning strikes have been reported in the area, residents are reminded that when thunder roars, go indoors.
