Members of the Peterborough County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a motor vehicle collision on Ward Street at approximately 9:30am on June 12, 2021. The complainant reported that their sport utility vehicle (SUV) was rear-ended by a pickup truck and the truck had fled the scene. The driver and passenger of the SUV were transported to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries. The truck was located by officers in the First Nation Territory of Curve Lake and the driver was found to be under the influence of drugs. 

Kaitlyn WILLIAMS (age 32) of Curve Lake First Nation, Ontario was arrested and charged with:

• Operation while impaired-alcohol and drugs

• Failure to stop after accident

• Drive motor vehicle-no licence

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on July 22, 2021.

The Peterborough County OPP reminds motorists to plan ahead when consuming drugs. Use a designated driver, cab, public transit, or stay overnight. Any amount of alcohol or drugs can impact your ability to make sound judgements.
