Northumberland OPP officer is “in no way responsible” for a crash that took the life of a 62-year-old in Roseneath

On February 27, 2021, a 62-year-old male succumbed to injuries incurred in a motor vehicle collision in the area of Northumberland Road and Roseneath Landing Road, Ontario.

As the vehicle in which he was traveling had almost struck an Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) cruiser just before the collision, the SIU was notified and opened a file.

The driver of the OPP vehicle was identified as the subject official for purposes of the SIU investigation. The investigation has now been concluded.

According to SIU Director, Joseph Martino, “On my assessment of the evidence, I am satisfied that the collision that took the man’s life was the result of his impairment by alcohol, and that the subject official was in no way responsible for the crash.”
