TRAFFIC COMPLAINTS CONTINUE TO TAKE IMPAIRED DRIVERS OFF OUR ROADS

Members of the Peterborough County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a traffic complaint regarding a possible impaired driver that was driving erratically on Chemong Road at approximately 9:00pm on June 25, 2021. The vehicle was located and the driver was found to be under the influence of alcohol. 

Norman GIBBONS (age 61) of Selwyn Township, Ontario was arrested and charged with:

• Operation while impaired-alcohol and drugs

• Operation while impaired-blood alcohol concentration-80 plus

• Operation while prohibited under the Criminal Code

The accused had their driver’s licence suspended for 90 days and vehicle impounded for 45 days.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on August 3, 2021.

The Peterborough County OPP reminds motorists to plan ahead when consuming alcohol. Use a designated driver, cab, public transit, or stay overnight. Any amount of alcohol or drugs can impact your ability to make sound judgements.
