TRAFFIC STOP LEADS TO DRUG TRAFFICKING CHARGES

Members of the Peterborough County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stopped to check on the wellbeing of the occupants of a disabled motor vehicle on Lakefield Road at approximately 1:15am this morning. One of the passengers was found to be in possession of illicit drugs. A search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of fentanyl, cocaine, methamphetamine, oxycodone, scales, cellphones and other drug paraphernalia. (See attached photo)

Lawrence O’Brien (age 32) of Carlow-Mayo Township, Ontario was arrested and charged with:

• Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking-cocaine

• Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking-other drugs

• Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking-methamphetamine

• Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking-opioids

• Failure to comply with release order-other than to attend court

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on August 4, 2021.
