A man has been charged with trafficking after a traffic stop.
Early morning on July 12, 2021, police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle travelling in an erratic manner on Division Street. Police located crystal methamphetamine, fentanyl, and cocaine in the car, along with a quantity of cash.
As a result of the police investigation, 29-year-old Kole Grundy of Cobourg is charged with the following offences:
- Possess weapon dangerous contrary to section 88(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada
- Possession of substance in schedule 1 for the purpose of trafficking – methamphetamine contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act
- Possession of substance in schedule 1 for the purpose of trafficking – Fentanyl contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act
- Possession of substance in schedule 1 for the purpose of trafficking- Cocaine contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act
- Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000, contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada
Grundy was released from custody on an Undertaking with a future court date.
A woman passenger in the car, 23-year-old Erin Rutherford of Cobourg, is charged with the following offences:
- Possession of a substance in schedule 1 contrary to section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
- Fail to comply with probation order contrary to section 733.1(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada
Rutherford was released from custody on an Appearance Notice with a future court date.
