A man has been charged with assault after police are called to Victoria Beach in the Town of Cobourg.
On the afternoon of Wednesday, July 21, 2021, police responded to a report of a man causing a disturbance at Victoria Beach in Cobourg. While on route to the call, officers received an update that the man had assaulted a Town of Cobourg By-Law Officer.
Police arrived on scene and the man fled on foot. After a short foot pursuit police arrested the man.
As a result of subsequent police investigation, 44-year-old Jamie MOORE of Castleton was charged with the following offences:
- Assault contrary to section 266 of the Criminal Code of Canada of Canada
- Fail to Comply with Probation contrary to section 733.1(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada
- Being intoxicated in a public place contrary to section 31(4) of the Liquor Licence Act
MOORE was later released on an Undertaking and Part 3 Summons with a future court date.
