The Quinte West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a driver following a traffic complaint.

On August 8, 2021, at approximately 9:30 p.m., Quinte West OPP received a traffic complaint of a vehicle with no tail lights having difficulty maintaining a lane eastbound on County Road 2 from 2nd Dug Hill Road in Trenton. Officers located the vehicle on Old Highway 2 east of RCAF Road and conducted a traffic stop. After officers observed signs on impairment, a roadside screening test was administered. As a result the driver was arrested for impaired driving. The accused was transported to the Quinte West OPP detachment for testing where blood alcohol levels were determined to be in excess of the legal limit.

Guillaume ROY, 30 years old of Sherbrooke, QC has been charged with operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario court of Justice in Belleville on August 26, 2021. Their license was suspended for 90 days and their vehicle was impounded for seven days.
