DRUG CHARGES LAID FOLLOWING ARREST OF DRIVER

The Quinte West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged an individual with multiple offences following a traffic stop.

On August 9, 2021, at approximately 4:00 p.m., the Quinte West OPP Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) with the assistance of patrol officers conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle on Maclellan Avenue with respect to an investigation into the possession of stolen property. The driver was arrested, and following a search of the vehicle a quantity of suspected cocaine, methamphetamine, hydromorphone, drug paraphernalia and cash consistent with drug trafficking was seized.

Jeremy WICKENS, 45 years old of Quinte West has been charged with the following offences:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine;
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – methamphetamine;
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – hydromorphone; and
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on September 27, 2021.
