DRIVER AIRLIFTED FOLLOWING SERIOUS COLLISION IN ALNWICK/HALDIMAND TOWNSHIP

The Northumberland OPP are currently holding the scene of a serious two vehicle collision in Alnwick/Haldimand Township.

It happened just before 7:00 PM Friday evening in the intersection of County Rd. 22 and N. Burns Rd when a Dodge SUV and a Dodge Minivan collided.

The collision sent the Dodge SUV into a nearby ditch. The driver of the vehicle had to be extricated from the vehicle before being transported to a local hospital. Ornge was later called to airlift this patient to a Toronto area trauma centre in critical condition.

A second person was transported to local hospital to receive care for what are believed to be minor injuries.

Northumberland OPP are holding the scene of the collision awaiting the arrival of a member of the OPP trained in collision reconstruction.
