It was around 3:20 AM this morning that members of the Northumberland OPP were notified about a single vehicle collision on HWY 401 near County Rd. 45 in the westbound lanes.
A single vehicle had lost control and spun-out into the centre median of the highway. Facing the wrong way in the fast lane the vehicle became disabled. With no warning a westbound vehicle struck the disabled vehicle which then struck a transport truck.
Hamilton Township Fire Department along with Cobourg Fire Department, Northumberland Paramedics and OPP all responded to the call for service.
Miraculously only minor injuries were sustained in the collision.
Shortly before 4:00 AM the highway was reopened to motorists.
Charges are unknown but it is believed that charges are pending as a result of the collision.
If you ever find yourself in a situation where your vehicle becomes disabled remain calm. If you are in a live lane immediately call emergency services. NEVER get out of your vehicle unless emergency services are on scene and ask you to do so. Always enable your emergency hazard lights.
