Trent Hills Fire Department on scene for a barn fire

Just before 10:45 PM on Sunday evening, members of the Trent Hills Fire Department were called to the scene of a fully engulfed barn on 12th Line West.

First arriving crews located a barn on a property in the 1400th block of 12th Line West that was fully engulfed in flames. Crews immediately began to apply water to the barn from a defensive fire attack.

Northumberland Paramedics along with OPP also responded to the scene. Paramedics assessed on person from the scene who was not seriously injured or transported to hospital.

Hydro One responded to disconnect power to the barn.

At this time it is unknown what caused the fire however the barn is a total loss. At the time of the fire we know that at least chickens were inside and it’s unknown if any animals made it out.

The scene remains active and motorists are encouraged to take alternate routes at this time.
