Youth arrested after police allegedly find an unloaded pellet gun following altercation

On September 13, 2021, at approximately 12:55 pm, police attended Cobourg Collegiate Institute in response to a report of a physical altercation between students in the area off school property. 

Police located the firearm, which was confirmed to be an unloaded pellet gun. As a result of the subsequent police investigation, a youth was charged with the following offences:

  1. Carrying concealed weapon contrary to section 90(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada
  2. Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose contrary to section 88(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada
  3. Pointing a firearm contrary to section 87(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada
  4. Assault with a weapon contrary to section 267(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada

The youth was arrested and released with a future court date. 

The identity of the accused is protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
