The Chief of Fire for Alnwick/Haldimand, Dave Dawson spoke today about the importance of fire safety and fire inspections following a recent inspection within the municipality.
Earlier today, Alnwick/Haldimand Fire Department, the OPP, Office of the Fire Marshall, ESA, TSSA, and inspectors from the municipality all joined forces to inspect a structure within the Alnwick/Haldimand area.
Dawson explained that the service has a mandate to “provide and ensure that life safety is cared for, and ensuring inspections are done appropriately and that the follow up process is promptly completed”.
He mentioned their mandate also includes ensuring smoke alarms, C0 alarms and points of egress are all operable for everyone in their living conditions.
Fire prevention week is coming up (Oct 3 – 9) and the Chief invites members of the community to come out for questions about the service or fire safety, any assistance, giveaways, and station tours. All stations in Alnwick/ Haldimand are holding open houses on Sunday, October 3 between 10am and 2pm.
