THEFT SUSPECT ARRESTED; STOLEN PROPERTY RECOVERED

Members of the Peterborough County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to investigate several theft incidents which occurred throughout Peterborough County on September 22, 2021.

At approximately 6:00pm, the suspect attended a residence in the City of Peterborough and stole a trailer containing construction equipment. The suspect proceeded to a residence in Selwyn Township but was confronted by the homeowner before anything could be stolen. The suspect damaged the homeowner’s vehicle and other property prior to fleeing. The suspect then attended a residence in Otonabee-South Monaghan Township and stole several pieces of gardening equipment. 

At approximately 9:45pm, officers located the suspect at a storage facility on Highway 7. The suspect was arrested and the stolen items were recovered.

Raymond Gould (age 36) of Selwyn Township, Ontario was arrested and charged with:

• Possession of property obtained by crime-over $5000

• Dangerous operation

• Theft over $5000

• Operation while prohibited under the Criminal Code-two counts

• Fail to comply with Probation Order

• Mischief under $5000

The accused is scheduled to appear in The Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on October 26, 2021.
