Members of the Peterborough County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stopped a vehicle after the driver attempted to avoid a RIDE check at approximately 11:15pm on September 25, 2021. The vehicle turned around as it approached the RIDE check on County Road 4. Officers stopped the vehicle on University Road and the driver was found to be under the influence of alcohol.

Terry FINLEY (age 35) of Selwyn Township, Ontario was arrested and charged with:

• Operation while impaired-blood alcohol concentration-80 plus

• Driver-fail to properly wear seatbelt

• Driver- fail to surrender licence

The accused had their driver’s licence suspended for 90 days and vehicle impounded for 7 days.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on November 2, 2021.

The Peterborough County OPP reminds motorists to plan ahead when consuming alcohol. Use a designated driver, cab, public transit, or stay overnight. Any amount of alcohol or drugs can impact your ability to make sound judgements.
