It was just before 10PM this evening that emergency crews were called to the area of County Rd. 22 and County Rd. 45 in Alnwick/Haldimand Township for a roll-over collision. A west-bound SUV on County Rd. 22 left the roadway for an unknown reason, entered the drive way to the Scenery Drive Restaurant, and rolled over in the ditch in front of the business.
A female was extricated from the vehicle along with a dog. The female was transported to local hospital to receive treatment for was are believed to be serious injuries and the dog was transported to a family residence nearby.
Emergency crews scoured the area in search for any possible other victims with thermal cameras and flashlights, but did not find anyone.
We spoke to the owner of the Scenery Drive Restaurant, Perry Robins who has lived behind his restaurant for years. He told us he was watching the Blue Jays game when he and his wife heard a loud bang that shook the house. They went outside to investigate, where they found the SUV on its side.
Many other drivers who saw the collision stopped to call 9-1-1.
