BREAKING NEWS – Two people dead following house fire in Port Hope

The Port Hope Police Inspector Katie Andrews has confirmed two people have died as a result of a house fire in Port Hope.

It was 11:20AM when Port Hope Police received the call for the sound of an explosion at 172 Bruton St. Port Hope Fire and Emergency Services also responded to the scene.

Upon arrival, crews discovered a working house fire. It was reported that two people were trapped in the home.

An aggressive attack was utilized to control the fire. When the fire was deemed under control an interior search located two victims.

Both victims were removed from the home by Firefighters without vital signs and transported to local hospital where they were pronounced deceased.

The Office of the Fire Marshal is on the way to assist Port Hope fire inspectors to investigate and determine the cause of the fire.

Crews remain on scene with road closures in effect. Our thoughts are with those affected by the fire.
