Peterborough OPP take two impaired drivers off the road over the weekend

Members of the Peterborough County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a motor vehicle collision involving two vehicles on County Road 4 at approximately 5:45pm on October 8, 2021. No injuries were reported but one of the drivers was found to be under the influence of alcohol.

Malcolm MACDUFF (age 27) of Flamborough Township, Ontario was arrested and charged with:

• Operation while impaired-blood alcohol concentration-80 plus

• Operation while impaired-alcohol and drugs

The accused had their driver’s licence suspended for 90 days and vehicle impounded for 7 days.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on November 17, 2021.

The next morning, members of the Peterborough County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a motor vehicle collision on Hilliard Street at approximately 8:00am on October 9, 2021. The complainant reported that a vehicle had left the roadway and struck a tree. No injuries were reported but the driver was found to be under the influence of drugs.

Mark JOHNSTON (age 35) of Selwyn Township, Ontario was arrested and charged with:

• Operation while impaired-alcohol and drugs

• Dangerous operation

The accused had their driver’s licence suspended for 90 days and vehicle impounded for 7 days.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on November 24, 2021.

The Peterborough County OPP reminds motorists to plan ahead when consuming alcohol or drugs. Use a designated driver, cab, public transit, or stay overnight. Any amount of alcohol or drugs can impact your ability to make sound judgements.
