Quinte West OPP – TWO BRIGHTON RESIDENTS ARRESTED AFTER 401 COLLISION

The Quinte West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a driver and passenger after a collision on Highway 401.

On October 25, 2021, at approximately 3:15 p.m., Quinte West OPP were dispatched to the westbound 401 Highway, after a report of a pickup truck striking a tractor trailer between Wallbridge Loyalist Road and Aikins Road. The complainant advised that the pickup truck continued to drive heavily damaged and missing a wheel. Officers located the damaged pickup truck and the occupants on Miron Road, approximately 15 kilometres from the collision location. The driver and a passenger were subsequently arrested for various offences. Following a search of the driver, a small quantity of suspected fentanyl was located.

Douglas MCGREGOR, 40 years old of Brighton has been charged with the following offences:

  • Dangerous Operation
  • Fail to stop after accident
  • Operation while prohibited under the criminal code
  • Obstruct peace officer; and
  • Possession of a schedule I substance – Fentanyl

The accused was held in custody and is scheduled to appear for bail at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on October 26, 2021.

Michelle HODGSON, 33 years old of Brighton has been charged with the following:

  • Obstruct peace officer; and 
  • Failure to comply with a release order – two counts 

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on December 9, 2021.
