UPDATE: QUINTE WEST OPP HAVE MADE AN ARREST AFTER HOMEMADE EXPLOSIVES LOCATED

The Quinte West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has made an arrest in connection with an explosives and firearms investigation.

On October 28, 2021 at approximately 5:00 a.m., Quinte West OPP responded to an address on Montrose Road in Trenton after a report of a potential homemade explosives being located. The device was determined not to be a risk to public safety and was removed from the residence at that time. 

On Nov 2, 2021, at approximately 10:30 a.m., Quinte West OPP returned to the residence as it was reported that additional suspected explosive devices were located. The OPP Explosives Disposal Unit (EDU) attended and assisted in analyzing and removing the devices. Additionally, a sawed off shotgun was also located.

On November 4, 2021, at approximately 1:00 p.m., the accused turned himself in at the Quinte West OPP Detachment.

Adam HORN, 33 years old of Quinte West has been charged with the following offences:

  • Explosives – making or possessing for unlawful purpose – three counts
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose – three counts
  • Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm
  • Knowledge of unauthorized possession of firearm; and
  • Careless storage of a firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition – two counts

The accused was held for bail and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on November 5, 2021.
