Cobourg Police Service is investigating a report of a suspicious person near local school

Cobourg Police Service is currently investigating a report of a suspicious person observed near a local school in Cobourg.

On Monday, November 8, 2021, police received a report from a resident that observed a man with a rabbit standing outside the school grounds of Terry Fox Public School at approximately 3:40 pm.

In video surveillance obtained by police, the man exited a vehicle and stood outside the school fence with a rabbit on a leash. Several students petted the rabbit before walking away. When the students were gone, the man left the area in his car.

This person has not committed a criminal offence. The Cobourg Police Service is looking to identify and speak to this man.

The man is described as mid to late 30s, about 5’8” in height, having dark skin, and wearing a black hoodie with the hood up, gray track pants and a white mask.

This matter is being investigated by School Resource Officer in coordination with the Criminal Investigation Branch. Cobourg Police Service will be conducting extra patrols in the area.

Police would like to speak to anyone who may have video surveillance or witnessed anything suspicious during that time frame.
