PETERBOROUGH OPP – TRAFFIC STOP LEADS TO MULTIPLE CHARGES

Members of the Peterborough County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stopped a vehicle for a Highway Traffic Act offence on Ward Street at approximately 9:00am yesterday morning. Further investigation revealed that the driver was prohibited from operating a motor vehicle. 

Benjamin ARIZA (age 27) of Peterborough, Ontario was arrested and charged with:

• Operation while prohibited under the Criminal Code

• Driver-fail to properly wear seatbelt

• Obstruct peace officer

The accused had their vehicle impounded for 45 days.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on December 14, 2021.
