The Quinte West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating a string of thefts from motor vehicles that occurred in a Trenton neighbourhood.

On October 15, 2021, at approximately 6:45 a.m., Quinte West OPP responded to a report of a theft from a vehicle on Birch Street in Trenton. The Investigation, which was assisted by the OPP Forensic Identification Services (FIS) determined that a total of approximately 13 unlocked vehicles were entered on Birch Street and John Street between the hours of 1:00 a.m. and 4:00 a.m. Various items were stolen including electronics, cash, credit cards, debit cards and personal identification.

Quinte West OPP would like to remind residents that everyone can do their part to reduce property crime in their community. The following tips may help prevent you from being a victim:

  • Be aware of and report suspicious people, vehicles and activity in your neighbourhood;
  • Ensure you have adequate lighting outside your home and install security cameras if possible;
  • Ensure your home, outbuildings and vehicles are locked, especially in the evening and store valuables out of sight and in a secure place.
