It was minutes before 11PM Thursday evening when emergency services received a 9-1-1 Call from a motorist reporting a pedestrian had been struck on the westbound 401 near Morgans Rd just outside of Port Hope.
A pedestrian had been struck by a passing transport truck in the right lane of the highway. The pedestrian was reported to be walking on the westbound shoulder of the highway with a gasoline container.
Paramedics treated the pedestrian on the scene, and transported the person to a Toronto area hospital to receive treatment for their injuries by Region of Durham Paramedics.
Two right lanes were closed closed as a result and reopened around 1:30AM to traffic. At this time there is no word on any charges related to this incident and the persons current condition is unknown.
