GoFundMe setup in support of 3M Dance Works after intentionally set fire causes $80,000 in damages

In the very early morning hours of December 18, 2021 Port Hope Police came across a fire at the 3M Dance Studio located on Peter St in Port Hope.

Officers attempted to extinguish the fire, which had been intentionally set in the entrance way to the building. When Port Hope Fire and Emergency Services arrived they continued to extinguish the fire and checked for extensions of fire.

Approximately $80,000 worth of smoke and heat damage has rendered the dance studio unusable. Along with the damage, pieces of memorabilia, photos, awards, and props were destroyed.

A GoFundMe has been started and states the owners, “Vada and Bonnie worked so hard to build an amazing studio for Vada’s dream business, and the 3M dance family just wants to rally around them and show them support at an already stressful time of year.”

Due to the circumstances of the fire, the Ontario Office of the Fire Marshall was called in and pages organizer says “We just want to help them make it through the next couple of months while they wait for insurance and the investigation to go through and to help make their Christmas a little merrier.”
