Peterborough Police looking for suspect after security guard assaulted

Peterborough Police Service is looking for a suspect after an incident Tuesday afternoon.

Officers and emergency services were called to the area behind Lansdowne Place Mall near the TransCanada trail around 2:00pm after reports a security guard was assaulted. Upon arrival, officers learned that an unwanted person on the mall property had lunged at the guard with a knife.  The knife struck the guard’s coat, but they were not cut.  However, during the altercation the guard tumbled and fell to the ground.  They were taken to Peterborough Regional Health Centre for treatment of minor injuries.

Officers canvassed the area with the assistance of a drone, but the suspect was not located.

The suspect was described to police as:    

  • Male
  • Scruffy beard
  • Black jacket
  • White bag
  • Last seen walking toward Hawley Street.
