QUINTE WEST OPP – TRANSPORT DRIVER CHARGED WITH IMPAIRED DRIVING

The Quinte West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a driver following a traffic complaint.

On January 13, 2022, at approximately 9:40 p.m., Quinte West OPP received a traffic complaint regarding a transport truck westbound on the 401 near Aikins Road with no lights and having difficulty driving in its lane. Officers located the truck west of Wooler Road where a traffic stop was conducted.  A Standardized Field Sobriety Test was conducted with the driver, and as a result they were arrested for impaired driving. The accused was transported to the Lennox and Addington Detachment where they underwent a series of tests with a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE).

Heinrich BLATZ, 42 years old from Cuauhtémoc, Mexico has been charged with operation while impaired – blood drug concentration.

The accused was released on an Undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on February 3, 2022. Additionally, the accused is suspended from driving in Ontario for 90 days, and the truck was impounded for seven days.
