SUSPECT ARRESTED FOLLOWING FATAL SHOOTING IN OSHAWA

Police have made an arrest after a deadly shooting that claimed the life of a 57-year-old taxi driver in central Oshawa Friday afternoon.

On Friday, January 21, 2021, at approximately 3:20 p.m., members of Central East Division responded to a shooting at King Street East, near Central Park Boulevard. Police responded and located a male beside a taxi with obvious signs of trauma. Emergency Services worked on the male before transporting him to a local hospital. Despite best efforts by medical staff, the victim was pronounced dead. A suspect was arrested near the scene. Homicide investigators continue to investigate this incident.

Investigators are looking for anyone that may have witnessed the shooting to contact them. Anyone with home security or dash-cam video near the scene are asked to contact Det. French of the Major Crime-Homicide Unit at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 5421.
