The Quinte West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has seized over a kilogram of methamphetamine and laid drug trafficking charges following a traffic complaint.

On June 21, 2022 at approximately 6:45 a.m., Quinte West OPP received a complaint of a vehicle that was all over the road driving eastbound on Highway 401 near Glen Miller Road, Quinte West. Police caught up to the vehicle near Shannonville Road where a traffic stop was conducted. The officer observed the driver to be in violation of the Cannabis Control Act and conducted a search of the motor vehicle. A quantity of suspected methamphetamine, valued at approximately $15000, cannabis, cash and drug paraphernalia were seized. As a result, the driver was arrested.

Daniel GALLANT, 31 years old from Fredericton has been charged with the following offences:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – methamphetamine
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000; and
  • Have care and control of a vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available

The accused was held in custody and is scheduled to appear for bail at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on June 22, 2022.
