
Bicyclist arrested on the strength of a warrant: Cobourg Police
On Tuesday, June 21, 2022, at 11:35 p.m., police on general patrol observed a person riding a bike on D’Arcy Street in Cobourg wanted on an outstanding warrant with the Cobourg Police Service.
The 35-year-old Cobourg man was arrested on the strength of the warrant. During the arrest, police located a small quantity of crack cocaine, fentanyl, and cannabis. Police also found a prohibited knife. The man was charged with the following offences:
- Improper bicycle lighting contrary to section 62(17) of the Highway Traffic Act
- Possession of a controlled substance to whit cocaine contrary to section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
- Possession of a controlled substance to whit fentanyl contrary to section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
- Possession of illicit cannabis contrary to section 8(1)(b) of the Cannabis Act
- Possession of a prohibited weapon contrary to section 92(2) of the Criminal Code
- Two counts of Fail to comply with Release Order contrary to section 145(5)(a) of the Criminal Code
The man was held for a bail hearing and remanded into custody with a court date on June 24, 2022.
