The Town of Cobourg Planning and Development Division is hosting two Open Houses regarding the Affordable and Rental Housing Community Improvement Plan (CIP).
The Affordable and Rental Housing CIP was developed in response to the rising need for both affordable and rental housing options within the Town of Cobourg and will help to execute the Northumberland County and Town of Cobourg’s Affordable Housing Strategy (AHS). A CIP is a strategic policy tool that can provide a suite of incentives for homeowners, to address locally specific needs and priorities in the community. Incentive programs are specifically designed to help stimulate the development and availability of affordable and rental housing, including those projects that involve sustainable, accessible, and brownfield redevelopment components.
To address Cobourg’s housing shortage, a priority has been set to increase the supply of purpose-built rental housing, smaller units, and secondary units such as accessory dwellings or coach houses, mixed-income developments, and emergency and transitional housing.
Interested residents are invited to attend one of two, scheduled open houses to learn more about the CIP and program incentives:
