Home destroyed by fire in the Town of Port Hope

A family of six, including three children under four-years-old are displaced following a structure fire on Lavinia St in the Town of Port Hope.

On Sunday, October 2, 2022 just after 2:00 a.m., members of the Port Hope Fire and Emergency Services from all three fire stations along with Port Hope Police and Northumberland Paramedics responded to a residential fire on Lavinia St. When fire crews arrived, flames could be seen shooting through the roof with heavy smoke.

Two adults, two dogs and a cat all safely made it out of the home without injuries. Four others lived there, but were not home at the time of the fire.

A GoFundMe has been launched in support of the three adult’s and three children who lost everything in the fire.

Crews later learned that the fire had spread to a nearby scrap yard. Both fire were quickly attacked and knocked down by responding crews.
