Suspended driver answering to numerous charges following a traffic stop in Cobourg: Police

On Wednesday, October 5, 2022, at 9:20 p.m., police on general patrol conducted a traffic stop on Division Street in the Town of Cobourg.

Police investigation revealed the licence plates were unauthorized, and the driver was under suspension to operate a vehicle. As a result, a 34-year-old Cobourg woman was arrested and charged with the following offences:

  1. Drive while under suspension, contrary to section 53(1) Highway Traffic Act
  2. Use plate not authorized for motor vehicle, contrary to section 12(1)(d) Highway Traffic Act
  3. Fail to surrender permit for motor vehicle, contrary to section 7(5)(a) Highway Traffic Act
  4. Fail to have insurance card, contrary to section 3(1) Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act
  5. Three counts of Fail to comply with probation, contrary to section 733.1(1) of the Criminal Code
  6. Fail to comply with undertaking, contrary to section 145(4)(a) of the Criminal Code

The woman was released on an undertaking and a Part III Summons with a court date of November 30, 2022.
